Remanufactured Chevy S-10 Truck Engines for Sale

Compact trucks were in Vogue in the early 1980s. Almost everybody needed a weekend truck or a truck that was great on gas and easy to maintain. The big truck market was still trying to find the right mix of truck ingredients for this new generation of buyers. Remanufactured Chevy S-10 Truck Engines for Sale for less at Remanufacturedenginesforsale.com, the remanufactured engine leader.

The S10 compact pickup truck was Chevy’s answer to Ford Ranger, but it faced an uphill battle since Ford was the truck of choice in those days. The S10 engines in those early trucks were okay in terms of gas mileage, but the 2-barrel, 1.9 liter Isuzu LR1 engine only had 84 horsepower and 101 ft-lbs of torque so the towing and hauling capabilities of the S10 were limited.

The overhead 2.2 Isuzu diesel engine was not much better, and Chevy’s Cavalier 2.0 OHV 14 was a notorious weakling. In 1984, Chevy replaced all those engines with the Pontiac 2.5 liter “Iron Duke” OHV 14. A 2.8 liter V6 engine was also put under the hood until the 4.3 liter V6 made its entrance in 1988.

From 1988 to 1995 the LB4, 4.3 Vortec V6 TBI powered the S10 with 160 to 180 horsepower and 230 to 235 ft-lbs of torque. The 2.5 litre L38 Iron Duke 14 TBI was still in use until 1993 because that 105 horsepower creeper with 135 ft-lbs of torque was a favorite with cost conscious consumers.

The GMC S-15 was basically the same as the S10, but in 1991 it was renamed the Sonoma without the Sierra trim packages. A high performance version of the Sonoma also appeared in 1991, and it was named the GMC Cyclone. All of these trucks used the same engines except for the Cyclone.

The Cyclone was powered by a 4.3 liter V6 Vortec W, which had different heads, a roller cam shaft, a balance shaft, and Central Port Injection. The other models used the standard Vortec Z which is a 262 cubic inch 4.3 litre engine. The 1992 and 1993 S10 engines came in either a 195 or 205 horsepower version. The high performance S10 Jimmie had a bigger Y pipe, and so did some of the S10 pickups.

In the US, the S-series was replaced by the GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado, and the Isuzu i-series in 2004. We sell Chevy S10 engines. Remanufacturedenginesforsale.com, the remanufactured engine leader, builds pure value in every engine for sale.
